Revere is named after patriot Paul Revere, who was best known for his role in the American Revolution.

A coastal town, Revere is home to Revere Beach, the oldest public beach in the United States. For much of the early twentieth century, Revere Beach was a very popular destination offering bars, food stands, amusement park rides, and other entertainment. Revere Beach eventually deteriorated until the 1990s, when it was renovated.

Revere is also home to well-known Kelley’s Roast Beef, the Wonderland Greyhound Park, and the Necco candy company headquarters, which is the oldest continuously operating candy company in the United States.
